For San Diego SUV shoppers, the future is about to get much more interesting. Recent reporting hints at what the next few years will hold in terms of new Hyundai SUVs, which in turn will make for an even better selection here at Kearny Mesa Hyundai.
Let’s start with one thing we know for sure: the 2018 Hyundai Kona is due in the first quarter of 2018. It fills a gap in the SUV lineup just below the current Hyundai Tucson. A production prototype has already been put through its paces by automotive journalists, and their early takes are enthusiastic.
The arrival of the Hyundai Kona may well mean a bigger version of the Hyundai Tucson. We’ve reached a point where companies are pushing the envelope in each segment, especially when it comes to squeezing more interior room out of a footprint that’s roughly the same size, and that’s what we expect to happen here. We’re also waiting on the Hyundai Santa Cruz, a crossover-based pickup that’s heavily derived from the Hyundai Tucson.
Hyundai Santa Fe Sport
If one Hyundai model is likely to remain untouched, this would be it. The Hyundai Santa Fe Sport is one of the most successful designs on the market, so any changes that come to it are likely to be incremental rather than revolutionary. After all, why fix what isn’t broken?
Hyundai Santa Fe
The three-row Hyundai Santa Fe currently tops the Hyundai model family in terms of size, and it’s expected to get a bit bigger still. The three-row segment is smaller but still highly competitive, so the added leg room (and, we would guess, more amenities) will give it a leg up. It may also be renamed to set it apart from the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport; if that happens, keep an eye open for the return of the Hyundai Veracruz name.
These developments are some way off yet. You don’t have to wait to drive a great new Hyundai SUV, however. You can do it right now at your San Diego Hyundai dealership. Stop by Kearny Mesa Hyundai at 4797 Convoy St in San Diego, CA for a closer look, or call with any questions.
