If you’ve been waiting on the Hyundai Santa Cruz, Hyundai’s concept crossover truck that was revealed a year ago in Detroit at the North American International Auto Show, we have good news and bad news. First, the good news. The Hyundai Santa Cruz is coming. The bad news is that we just can’t tell you when that will be. We hope to know more soon and be able to share that information with you, but in the meantime, rest assured that Hyundai plans to release its compact pickup sooner rather than later.

That’s according to Hyundai Motor America CEO Dave Zuchowski, who told media at this year’s North American International Auto Show that the official announcement regarding the Hyundai Santa Cruz is basically just an issue of scheduling when that will take place. We know, we know… you’re probably thinking how about now?

After all, Hyundai already has an extensive inventory of quality vehicles for nearly every driver’s need. There’s Hyundai hatchbacks and compacts, sedans, SUVs, performance and luxury cars, and hybrid and fuel cell vehicles. The only thing that’s missing from our new and used Hyundai inventory at Kearny Mesa Hyundai is San Diego is a truck. And that’s where the Hyundai Santa Cruz would come in.

The Hyundai Santa Cruz Concept delivers 300 lb.-ft. of torque and has a bed to carry your cargo. But it also has a compact footprint, similar to that of a crossover SUV, which makes it ideal for driving around the city or parking in a tight space. It even has comfortable seating for five adults.

So while the Hyundai Santa Cruz provides the performance and utility of a pickup truck, it also has the comfort and agility of a crossover. At Kearny Mesa Hyundai, it sounds like the best of both worlds to us!
